4G. Positive Behavior Supports: Building a Learning Environment for CCSS Achievement
Description: This session will explore how a comprehensive system of behavioral supports and interventions can proactively support a students' academic achievement so that students are college and career ready. This session will highlight some key classroom management strategies that will aid with Common Core Implementation. Participants will leave with a full understanding of the connections between behavior and academics.
Presenter: Tatiana is a licensed school social worker who received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor degree in Afro-American Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She went on to receive her Masters of Arts degree from the University of Chicago with an emphasis in community schools. The stint of her professional career has been spent at the Chicago Board of Education where she coordinates and facilitates district-wide professional development trainings on social-emotional learning and behavioral health within the Youth Development & Positive Behavior Supports unit within the Chicago Public School district.
