3E. The Art of Questioning in the Math Classroom

Description: This workshop provides a modeled discussion of questioning tactics for teachers to implement the Standards for Mathematical Practice. Teachers problem-solve issues in a traditional math classroom and create questions that lead to a higher level of student learning.

Presenter: While teaching full-time high school mathematics, Heather Brown spent the last 8 years working with the Chicago Lesson Study Group and presenting on lesson study, questioning and now the common core. Currently she works full-time as the Statewide System of Support Area 1C Math Content Specialist for the Illinois State Board of Education.
