3C. Common Core State Standards and Students with Special Needs: How to Guarantee Access and Success for All Students


Description: Colleagues will seek and share wisdom regarding the best practice of providing accommodations, modifications, developmentally appropriate practice and differentiating across content areas and learning environments. This session will give participants the opportunity to determine and discuss instructional strategies that support taking the Common Core State Standards from paper to practice for students with exceptional needs from early childhood through high school.

Presenters: Antoinette Taylor is an approved Illinois State Board of Education Professional Development Provider with experience working with individuals with disabilities and impairments from 6 months through adults across the continuum from Autism to Fragile X. She is currently serving on the Governors P-20 Council (Family Youth Community Engagement Committee and the Post-secondary and Workforce Readiness Steering Committee). Antoinette is one of the stakeholders, collaborating with the United States Dept. of Ed (Office of Special Educations Programs) on the recently announced Results Driven Accountability Initiative.
