3H. Integrating the CCSS in Science


Decription: We will identify ELA and Math CCSS addressed in an existing science lesson from the SEPUP curriculum. Teachers will also work together to investigate opportunities to use ELA and Math CCSS to plan science instruction. Finally, we will explore a draft CPS science-planning guide designed to ease the transition to the CCSS.

Presenters: Thomas Vlajkov has been teaching middle-grades science with the Chicago Public Schools since 2006. He has a masters degree in science education from the University of Michigan and was recently awarded National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Science.
